Creating a PDF

June 17, 2010

I just  want to take away some of the spookiness from the PDF format in this post. This format has become highly used yet some do not know what it is. Well, PDF stands for Portable Digital File.

This Portable Digital File unlike previous version of digital files like .doc or .csv, this format is hard to change once you save it. The only way for someone to change your PDF format is for you to give them permission but those are more advance features which are not necessary.

Here are some benifits for using PDF format.

1.) PDF’s supports interactive functions

2.) Allows Security

3.) Very portable and able to compress.

I have a short tutorial on how to create a PDF file using Microsoft word. You can also use stand alone PDF creators. I use Indesign to create my PDF’s. You can google  PDF’s and come up with a bunch of creators.

If this was helpful or useful to you please let me know and leave a comment.

Free Video Software

June 9, 2010

I just wanted to share with you the video software that I use to make my video tutorials. Its called camstudio. You can down load it at http://camstudio.org/ . Its a great way to record presentations off your computer screen.

You can create video tutorials like I do or create video presentations of your computer screen. Post them on Youtube or embed them in your blog or website.

It is very easy to use. Here are some highlights of the software.

1.) you have the ability to save it as an .AVI or a .SWF format

2.) You can record full screen or define the area you want recorded.

3.) You have the option to record audio simultaniously or not.

4.)  You also can highlight the curser so people can easily identify what you are pointing at on screen. I like this function.

Please take a look at the short tutorial below of the software. Just so you can get the feel of what the software can do for you. I would recommend this especially if you are on a tight budget. It is worth the price… lol.

Please leave a comment on what you think about the software. Would this be useful for you?

The quickest way to learn is by mimicing. Watching over someones shoulders and copying what they do. Then, take what they do and make it your own.

Quick Start Tutorial is based off this idea. You can save hundreds of dollars by buying a video instead of going to the expensive one on one class. You can save hours of your time by removing the technical book and travel time to classes.

Imagine in a few hours having the understanding and basics of a craft or skill that would normally take a semester and a few thousand dollars. Quick Start tutorials provides the information to understand the tools in Photoshop CS4 to create high impact flyers business cards, CD covers, and marketing materials.

New products, businesses, and events continue to populate. These products, businesses, and events will need flyers business cards, logos and websites to distiguish themselves from the competition. They will need graphic artist to help them craft their messages.
